Good Job Hunting Tips

I can’t think of a place where competition doesn’t exist. Given the economic condition, downsizing and lay offs; one should really stand out to be seen among those many people looking for job. No need to feel hopeless or pressured, don’t think of job hunting as tough and laborious instead think of it as a big challenge and a journey to learning as you go along. I never experienced being between jobs for a month, the last longest is just one week; secret? Keep on looking and stay positive.

Check for online job postings regularly and buying Sunday newspaper can also of big help. Go for the classified add section and make a thorough search. Don’t just go for the big companies or those who occupy bigger space in the newspaper. Do follow ups with your applications and stay positive. Your social contacts can help you but don’t forget that drive should come from you alone.

How to Stay Motivated at Work

They say you would only realize the value of someone or something when it’s gone. The same thing applies to work I guess. You wouldn’t want to imagine yourself a bum with monthly bills coming in and no monthly income. It’s chaos! Staying motivated at work may not be easy as it sounds like but believe me there are ways on how to have the feeling. First, you have to clear yourself of the entire negative aura, think positive.

1

The world itself is already full of mess, don’t count yourself in. Secondly, stay away from office gossip and focus on sharing good news instead. Smile and be a blessing to others. Thirdly, reward yourself. After a day of heavy and toxic work, chill out. Lastly, love your work. There are plenty of people jobless out there, you’re lucky enough to have one. Cherish it, there’s no one to motivate yourself but only you.

At the Crossroad

Choosing which career path to take in the college is like being stuck in crossroad, lost, confused; you don’t know which direction to take but then you have to be moving for time is passing at any moment. I’m a business graduate but after three years of doing office work I ended up bored and looking for new endeavors until I ended up teaching. It’s not really the typical classroom setting, I teach foreign students and it’s quite obvious that I’m having the time of my life.

Before I entered college, I was such a rebel and I didn’t listen to my family’s advice of becoming a teacher. It’s not that parents’ always know best but it would be better to seek professional advice. Now, if you’re not satisfied with them I guess it’s better to ask yourself questions. If I study this course, how do I see myself after graduation? Safety reminder; go for courses that can earn you license. You only got one life to live, and the answer is not always living it to the fullest but how well you live it.

Let’s just say that your resume has made it to the interview. Congratulations, that is one step ahead. Now all you have to do is to prepare for the much awaited date wherein you have to sell yourself in front of their human resources staff. First things first is to wear appropriate clothing; no to sleeveless, backless and plunging necklines if I were you. You might as well have a wristwatch; carry a leather bag and a coat with you.

Know your resume inside and out. Make sure to do a thorough research of the company that you are applying and anticipate questions. Consider it old school but questions about strength and weaknesses are almost ubiquitous. Practice makes perfect so make a list of possible questions and do the answering by yourself if you can’t grab a friend to do it for you. During the interview, relax, be yourself and break a leg!

The Importance of a Well Written Resume

With high competition in the job market and the present economic condition no one is indispensable at work. To borrow from a medical journal, prevention is better than cure. I wouldn’t be telling you this, hadn’t I experienced the phenomenon myself. Being in a company for three years doesn’t mean you’ll be staying there for good, so better be prepared and make sure to have all your back ups ready.

1

When I say back up, I mean resume and it takes a well written resume to arouse the employers’ interests and to land the interview that any job seeker desires. A lot of online websites provide great deals of resume samples and templates but make sure to pick the best template possible. Make sure that you’re creating an honest and simple one. Omit the objective and write positive keywords. Don’t forget to include work experience, accomplishments but make the resume concise as much as possible. What’s written in your resume simply reflects who you are, so shine on!
