Strangely Contacted

I was kept on being contacted yesterday by some employment/recruitment companies for a reason that I don’t really know… I was just minding my own business yesterday, doing some stuff inside the office when all of a sudden, I received two consecutive calls from head hunters of some companies and then three more at around afternoon time, and I was really wondering why they were calling me when the fact is, I have a good job right now and they are paying me competitively.  I asked them where they got my information and why are they calling me and one of them told me that I was referred to their office by someone.

I did not believe it so I checked some things that I did these past few weeks. I was really stumped and I was about to give up when I noticed in my email that there was a message sent to me saying that there are a couple of jobs available for me that I can apply for if I’m interested. I checked out the companies listed in there and I saw the names of two of the companies that contacted me earlier. It turned out that the job search website that I signed up with a year ago thought that I am still in need of work. Sheesh!

How to ace a job interview

Let’s just say that your resume has made it to the interview. Congratulations, that is one step ahead. Now all you have to do is to prepare for the much awaited date wherein you have to sell yourself in front of their human resources staff. First things first is to wear appropriate clothing; no to sleeveless, backless and plunging necklines if I were you. You might as well have a wristwatch; carry a leather bag and a coat with you.

Know your resume inside and out. Make sure to do a thorough research of the company that you are applying and anticipate questions. Consider it old school but questions about strength and weaknesses are almost ubiquitous. Practice makes perfect so make a list of possible questions and do the answering by yourself if you can’t grab a friend to do it for you. During the interview, relax, be yourself and break a leg!

The Importance of a Well Written Resume

With high competition in the job market and the present economic condition no one is indispensable at work. To borrow from a medical journal, prevention is better than cure. I wouldn’t be telling you this, hadn’t I experienced the phenomenon myself. Being in a company for three years doesn’t mean you’ll be staying there for good, so better be prepared and make sure to have all your back ups ready.

When I say back up, I mean resume and it takes a well written resume to arouse the employers’ interests and to land the interview that any job seeker desires. A lot of online websites provide great deals of resume samples and templates but make sure to pick the best template possible. Make sure that you’re creating an honest and simple one. Omit the objective and write positive keywords. Don’t forget to include work experience, accomplishments but make the resume concise as much as possible. What’s written in your resume simply reflects who you are, so shine on!
